Hi, I’m Carla! I started this blog a long time ago as a way to keep up with healthy recipes. Over time I’ve tried many different “diets” in the past – some worked, some didn’t. The most recent ‘diet’ I tried was a very low carb/high fat diet. I ate very few carbs at all – including fruits – and lots of fat and I did lose 10 pounds in about a month. I was happy with the weight loss, but I did miss having sweets and fruits. After about a month of this, I found out that Serene & Pearl (the amazing authors of the book!) were coming to my town to speak at a Women’s Conference. I didn’t think I was going to be able to attend, but my plans changed at the last minute and I was so excited to get to go! It was wonderful to hear them speak about this ‘lifestyle change’ (I don’t like to call it a ‘diet’ because it’s not something that you do for a short period of time and then move on.) and I was very inspired by these ladies to start on this new adventure. I bought their book and starting reading it immediately. It took me a couple of weeks to read through the book entirely – hey, I have a husband, two kids, and a photography business! – so the first couple of weeks I didn’t really commit to the “plan” fully, I just made gradual adjustments.
I’ve been doing THM “full-time” for about two months now. I’ve only lost about 5 pounds, but my clothes are fitting SO much better and I feel wonderful. I’ve still got a long way to go, but I know that this is going to be a new way of eating for me now. No more fad diets. I have a sweet tooth the size of Texas so I love that with THM I can still eat fruit, sweet potatoes, brownies, fudge, etc – I just use natural sweeteners instead of processed sugar or artificial sweeteners.
I didn’t take measurements when I first started THM a couple months ago, but my husband came on board the THM train last week and we did waist measurements and weighed in so I’m going to call that date our ‘Official’ starting date. I’ll be posting my progress here on my “About” page as we go.
